How Can severe Vomiting Along With Diarrhea Be Treated?

Adult male 54 years old. Have had 3 episodes of vomiting and diarrhea with no fever in the past 3 weeks. Onset is unexpected. Feel fine then suddenly start throwing up, diarrhea starts about an hour later. A week prior to these episodes I had severe doubling over pain in my mid abdominal area, there was no vomiting or diarrhea with that situation. I saw my family doctor, he ran test an ulcer, and bloodwork, and an ultrasound for gallstones. Everything came back fine. A week later the vomiting and diarrhea started, each lasted a day or two then went away. It is like a stomach virus but my family doesn t get sick.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a gastrointestinal infection.
I suggest you to take over-the-counter option for diarrhea such as Loperamide three times a day.

I also suggest you to take pro-biotics daily.
You should eat a plain diet and drink a lot of liquids.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
